Are you being served?
The provision of training and support for voluntary management committees. March 2003
Voluntary management committees are in many ways one of the backbone of the voluntary and community sector and an important building block of its infrastructure.
Are you being served? seeks to explore the training and support needs of voluntary management committees, identify gaps in the provision and explore some of the key issues facing voluntary management committees.
Through the analysis of training directories, in-depth interviews with key training agencies and an overall organisational profile of education and training providers, a comprehensive view of this aspect of the sector has been developed. The research attempts to increase the understanding of the challenges management committees and training providers face in the ever changing environment of the voluntary and community sector.
This report strongly advocates the development of a more strategic and focused approach to ensure that the commitment and effort of voluntary management committees is acknowledged, properly supported and continued.
