This month you will find a variety of articles updating you on aspects of the voluntary and community sector, which overall portray a positive view of the situation moving forward. Evidence from NICVA’s Salary Survey 2010 (p3) and the Charity Pay Survey (p5) provides a good basis on which to argue the value of the sector.
There are a few legal changes to look out for this month, especially the updates in Charity Law (p5) and in Gift Aid (p6), so please take some time to review those. If you need any further information on these changes then why not attend one of the seminars on ‘New Charity Regulations and Working Towards Good Governance’ (see p10 for details).
Among the regular features on events/training you will find a very exciting opportunity for our members to question MLA candidates from all major political parties at a hustings event hosted by NICVA (p14). This event will enable you to get involved with the cut and thrust of election debate and question your potential political representatives on the issues that affect you and the groups you work with. The hustings will also mark the launch of NICVA’s policy manifesto, which will be mailed to all members following the event on 7 April.
Don’t forget to check out all the other events and training opportunities available this month, and remember to keep an eye on the funding pages for details of funding programmes and those all important deadlines.
