nicvanews July 2011
July's round up of news, events, training, funding and publications for NICVA members.
This month's round up
This month’s edition of nicvanews includes some inspirational stories of work that groups are doing in their local areas to make life better for those in their community. Take some time to catch up with the work of Destined, the Derry group working with people with learning disabilities, which has just completed a bespoke training course delivered by NICVA. You can also read about the inspirational work done by groups in the area of community relations which was highlighted at the recent Community Leadership Programme roundtable events. Also, don’t forget to check out our membership section where you will read about the work of NI at Play - an organisation that aims to get children involved in outdoor play.
As you can see from the cover image the Assembly is back in full swing, and this month NICVA launched the Northern Ireland Institutions Guide. This online resource is intended as a handy reference guide to Northern Ireland’s public bodies and institutions including a who’s who of politicians and public sector staff.
For those of you looking for a bargain there is a feature article on the CTXchange programme run by Charity Technology Trust which offers discounted high quality IT products to charitable organisations. Before placing your order make sure you read our top five tips for making the most of CTXchange.
Finally, given that we are all having to count the pennies in the current climate, Sector Matters is offering support and guidance in financial management through their new project Building Financial Foundations. Organisations with an income up to £100,000 are eligible to take part in the initiative which is funded by Lloyds TSB Foundation. Sector Matters has included a leaflet with this edition providing more information on what the project has to offer.
