With the pressure on organisations to do more with less and to consider alternative ways of working, the issue of collaborations and mergers is increasingly prevalent. This was highlighted in last month’s nicvanews with the launch of CollaborationNI. For an example of making mergers work in practice take some time to read the article on the merger between youth charities The Prince’s Trust and Fairbridge.
As momentum begins to build towards the NI Assembly elections in May, many of you will aim to engage with politicians and potential candidates to express your organisation’s priorities and concerns. The Assembly is expected to go into purdah at the end of March so to maximise the chances of getting your message across why not take advantage of NICVA’s Vital Links ‘Get to Know the Institutions’ programme or the CO3 story telling event.
Of course, this issue contains many other fascinating articles including invaluable updates on governance and charity law, employment law, and finance. And be sure to check out the various events and training sessions lined up for March. Given the financial pressures on organisations our funding pages are also a must see.
Finally, I would like to introduce myself to all our members. I have recently been appointed to the post of Information Officer at NICVA with editorial responsibility for nicvanews and the weekly newsletter eNews. If you have any comments or suggestions please do not hesitate to contact me.
