AGMs and company house filings
Companies, registered societies and credit unions that are due to hold an AGM in early 2021 will be glad to hear that they will be permitted to hold this online.
At the end of June, The Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act 2020 brought in special temporary rules to allow companies and mutuals to hold their AGMs and/or special general meetings online until the end of September, which was then extended to the end of December, even if their governing documents prohibited it. This temporary measure has now been extended to the 29 March 2021.
Companies which are due to file their annual accounts during the period 27 June 2020 to 5 April 2021 at Companies House have been granted a 3 month extension. This extension has been automatically applied by Companies House and the revised due date should appear on the company’s record on the register of companies.
