Covid-19 NICVA - Update Wednesday 8 April 2020

8 Apr 2020 Seamus McAleavey    Last updated: 8 Apr 2020

Read the latest update from our Chief Executive in the fight against Covid-19 and what we are doing to help the sector.

I promised to keep you updated on a regular basis on the issues facing voluntary and community organisations.  We have more analysis on the survey of organisations carried out last week and you can access it here

We are also raising your questions with government both at a UK level and at a Northern Ireland level.  The Department for Communities have lead responsibility for our sector in Government and their responsiveness has been outstanding. They are doing everything they can to help.  Here are some of the issues we have raised here.

NICVA and our sister Councils in England, Scotland and Wales  are expecting to have a meeting soon with Cabinet Office Officials.  We are raising the dire straits that many Charities who support valuable services with significant fundraising now find themselves in. Income has stopped abruptly and we are seeking a UK fund to stabilise these services.

Thanks to all who have registered their COVID-19 services on CommunityNI. There are over 250 services now added, but I know there are a lot more. So please add - big or small - if you haven't done so yet.

Take care and stay safe.

Seamus
