Crowdfunding is a way of raising money through the collective effort of family, friends, customers, individual investors and the public at large.

This fundraising method reaches out to large numbers of people mainly though social media and crowdfunding platforms, it leverages their networks for greater reach and exposure.

There are 4 main types of crowdfunding:

  • Donations -  ask your supporters to pledge money towards a cause
  • Rewards - offer supporters a reward in return for their pledge, usually in the form of a product or service your organisation offers
  • Community Shares - work with supporters to own something in your community
  • Equity - supporters can invest in your organistion/company

Crowdfunder is one of the platforms that you can use to do this.

They are waiving their platform and transactional fees to help organisations in this crisis.
