Draft accounting and reporting guidance consultation
The Charity Commission for Northern Ireland has launched its draft accounting and reporting guidance for consultation which also includes Directions for independent examiners.
This consultation follows the legislation which was made last month by DSD which is applicable to all registered charities in Northern Ireland from 1 January 2016.
There are several pieces of draft guidance included in this consultation, which will ultimately help charity trustees, and anyone working with charities, to understand the new rules for the preparation and scrutiny of charity accounts, the annual report and the annual monitoring return. The overall summary document includes useful flowcharts which will help charities easily identify what they have to do now.
The regulations and guidance apply to all charities registered with CCNI from the 1 January 2016 however the Commission is strongly recommending that as a matter of good practice all charitable organisations should apply the full accounting and reporting regulations to the preparation of their accounts and reports.
The Commission has organised several consultation seminars to give anyone involved with a charity the opportunity to come along and hear what the key changes are, and the opportunity to input into the final guidance.
