Carers NI

Nearly 214,000 people in Northern Ireland are looking after a friend or family member who needs their support. Carers NI is there to make life better for carers.

Give expert advice, information and support.

Caring can be extremely complicated. The maze of rights and entitlements can be complicated. Filling in paperwork can be complicated. Getting a break can be complicated. Our feelings about caring can certainly be complicated.

Carers NI are here to make sure that no matter how complicated your query or your experience, you don't have to care alone. Their expert telephone advice and support service is available if you want to talk about caring and they have a wealth of useful information on their website.

Connect carers so no-one has to care alone.

People take on a caring responsibility for many different reasons and it can be bewildering if you don't know where to turn for help and support. Through carers' groups and networks and an online forum, Carers NI are reaching out to people across Northern Ireland.

Campaign together for lasting change.

Carers NI are at the forefront of the carers’ movement, bringing carers together to have a voice and deliver lasting change. They will keep campaigning until we can all look after loved ones without putting our own lives on hold. Join the Carers Voice Network and help create a stronger voice for carers.

Innovate to find new ways to reach and support carers.

Carers NI's expertise and insight drawn from carers’ experiences helps them find better ways to support carers. They work with both voluntary and statutory organisations to help improve services for carers throughout Northern Ireland. They offer training to help carers build their resilience, and provide expert awareness training for voluntary organisations, health professionals, social workers and people who work with carers, on topics such as carers’ rights and assessments. If your organisation works with carers, the Carers Group Network offers a chance for group leaders to make connections and share their expertise.
