The day is split into three sessions and you can register for all of them or just the parts most relevant to you and your work.

The morning session from 10-11am is a Basic Introduction to the UK Parliament - this will answer the questions, what the UK Parliament is, what it does and how you can get involved.

The second morning session runs from 11.30-12.30pm focusing on How Legislation goes through the UK Parliament  - this session will focus om how legislation goes through the UK Parliament, how you can get involved and help shape it.

The afternoon session running from 2-4pm looks specifically at UK Select Committes: what they do and why they need you:

Public participation in UK Parliament select committee inquiries is crucial, providing valuable evidence and real-life stories to inform the work of MPs and Peers. This session will focus on what select committees do and how to get involved, including:

  • Unique insights from experts from the House of Commons and House of Lords on what select committees do and why
  • A greater understanding of how MPs and Peers check and challenge Government through committee inquiries
  • Guidance on how you can get involved and directly engage with the scrutiny process by submitting written evidence to inquiries
  • Advice on how to find out what inquiries are taking place

Lunch will be provided for those attending for the whole day.

This event is being run by the UK Parliament's Outreach Team. To register for any, or all, of the sessions  follow this link. Please circulate this link to anyone you feel may be interested in attending.
