Twelve participants from another nine organisations across Northern Ireland have commenced the Institute of Management and Leadership (ILM) level 3 in First Line Management (FLM) as part of the Reaching Communities NI Support and Development

The ten week programme provides learners with knowledge and skills in management through modules such as managing staff, dealing with conflict, project planning, and managing finance. Participants are encouraged to practically apply this knowledge back into their workplaces. During the ten weeks they gain the confidence to become effective managers.

To date seventy-four people have participated in the First Line Management programme as part of this Big Lottery Fund support programme for Reaching Communities grant holders over the last three years.

Participants on previous FLM courses said:

“I was able to further develop my skills through all the different sessions and although each one was different they all interlinked helping me to structure my project plan and provide focus for all staff creating specific roles and responsibilities.  The introduction of my work based assignment solution, a new streamlined computer system, means we can plan an extra event with a quick turn around, meaning we can raise more money” NI Hospice

“The programme has provided me with the confidence and focus to solve problems and make decisions in the workplace, I am more time efficient and better able to focus staff on the same goals” LASI
