NICVA’s new training calendar April – September 2015 is now ready to view on our website.

Our sector is facing constant change from all directions and needs to be ready to face the challenge that this brings as well as embrace the new opportunities. From budget cuts to new super councils, welfare reform to new funding models, organisations in our sector are continuing to respond to need and needing to be innovative in their approach. The new training calendar provides the opportunity to learn new skills and gain knowledge to equip your staff, volunteers and board members to respond well to change and make the most of what they have.

We have training in a variety of themes such as sustainability, governance, managing people and social media. We have developed a number of courses focused on income generation, how to plan more effectively, the importance of developing your fundraising mix and how to be successful in winning contracts.

In these times of change it is vital that we manage our most valuable resource, our people well and deal effectively with challenging situations so we an online session on redundancy, as well as managing staff and managing staff as a board. The online session means that you don’t even have to leave work or home but simply log in, which makes it more accessible and very good value.

Our other new development is out Social Media Super Series delivered over lunchtime, again short one and a half hour sessions, giving you tips on how to use social media such as Facebook and Twitter better, as well as sessions on using google analytics and planning your social media. These will be delivered once a month on Thursday lunchtimes – don’t miss out on these bite size chunks to improve how you get your message to your target audiences.

We have planned a series of evening sessions from 6pm to 8.30pm targeted at board members in the areas of managing finance, risk and staff. These sessions will give you practical help and guidance in best practice in these areas and a chance to discuss issues with other board members and an expert in the field.

NICVA training is delivered in an interactive way with a focus on improving practice and application to the workplace. The training sessions are delivered by subject matter experts who have developed their training specifically for the voluntary and community sector here.
