NICVA Response to the Consultation on Community Planning Guidelines
In the response we welcomed publication of the plans and the recognition of the role the voluntary and community sector can play in shaping the delivery of community planning.
However did note our concern on a number of topics. Speficially that the voluntary and community sector was not included as a likely partner on the strategic community planning partnership. We raised our concern that there is a real change of regional disparity to emerge throughout this process. We also noted the lack of departmental oversight as a key concern.
Also within our response we looked at the experiences of places that have already undergone this process, such as Scotland and Wales and suggested the department/local government should use these as examples of best practice.
Responses were submitted to the Department who will collate them and pass to the Minister who will have the final decision on any changes before the final guidelines are published ahead of the 1st of April deadline.
