NICVA's online training options

NICVA's partnership with Global Management Academy offers online courses in a range of topics and is going from strength to strength. In the first year from March 2018 to March 2019 we had 86 online learners.

Through the online learning we are delighted that we can be more flexible and offer a greater variety of courses to our members and the wider sector.

NICVA has been an ILM accredited centre since 2009 and have delivered a wide variety of ILM courses during this time. We look forward to continuing to deliver high quality accredited training to the sector through our range of courses. Over the years we have been listening to all those who have attended our training programmes as well as those that haven't been able to avail of our training and wanted to provide more accessible and flexible training options. We realise that not everyone can take the time out to attend training in a set location and at a certain time, especially volunteers and staff working on their own, so we needed to provide training to better meet their needs.

To date 86 learners have completed our online learning courses and have given excellent feedback on the quality of the resources and support they have received.

This new online training allows us to offer a blended approach to training. We are offering:

ILM level 3 Award in Leadership and Management

ILM level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring

ILM level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management

We asked those who have taken part in the online programme to tell us what they liked about it, this is what they said:

It is really easy to follow

I thought that the support materials where very good.

There is a variety of materials to read

I can learn at my own pace

I like that I can study at a time that suits me

It is easy to access

I liked the video resources

Breeda Doherty, from The Cedar Foundation, successfully completed her ILM level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring with NICVA through the online programme. A group of staff went through the programme at the same time and in Breeda's words The Cedar Foundation now have "a skilled management team to help staff be resilient and resourceful". She commented that the online training offered flexibility and forced her to reflect on what she does and think about what she would change. She has learned to listen more and not jump to solutions to empower her staff with the skills of problem solving. This has had a knock on effect on service users, she said "My staff are now more confident and come up with solutions to problem which means that they are more responsive to the needs of the service users"

We are working with the Global Management Academy, a leading provider of online business and professional skills training, to deliver these ILM programmes. Based in Belfast, Global Management Academy provides online management training to managers across The U. K, Ireland, The Middle East, East Asia and Australia. It is a registered ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) center, and provides online qualifications to frontline and middle managers across all sectors.

Due to the nature of the online subcscription you will need to pay the full cost in order to reserve your place on this course. Places are limited so please book and pay early.  Delivery of these courses are subject to having a minimum viable number of participants.
