Programme for Government Consultations Resources

NICVA kicked off its series of consultations on the draft Programme for Government with a meeting in Belfast on 11 January. The event, attended by 65 people from a wide ran

Lisa McElherron offered some of NICVA's initial thoughts on the document and outlined the key commitments that will be of interest to organisations across the voluntary and community sector.

Speaking at the event, NICVA Chief Executive Seamus McAleavey said that this was an important consultation for the sector and NICVA was committed to facilitating discussion and helping to share information between organisations.

Supporting information

With this in mind, this page will publish useful information to help organisations compile their responses.

The strategic nature of the PfG means that there is very little detail about how the commitments will impact on people and communities.  However, MLAs have been asking a series of questions in the Assembly on a number of issues relating to the PfG.  The Ministerial answers to these questions provide some useful details and we have collated the answers so far in the Assembly Questions document.

In some cases, commentators have been comparing the different approaches to planning adopted by other devolved administrations and we have made the most recent Scottish and Welsh documents available.

Inevitably comparisons have also been drawn with the 2008-2011 PfG, which is attached.

NICVA's voluntary and community sector Policy Manifesto sets out the key policy asks of the sector, which we hoped will influence the PfG. Our election manifesto review document compares the pre-election manifestos of the main political parties with the issues raised by the sector. Both these documents should help organisations interested in offering positive suggestions to improve the PfG.

Finally, we are keen to ensure organisations from across the sector can share their thoughts, concerns and priorities. If you would like to share information from your organisation please contact [email protected].
