The ROCOP programme recently held training on how to create a key message for their Big Lottery, Reaching Out: Connecting Older People project,

Twenty-seven participants attended a one day social media course, that showed them how to use Facebook and Twitter.

An obviously delighted Melanie from Age NI commented “It was well rounded and full of different and relevant info that can help Age NI.”

Paul McGarrity (Octave Digital), who delivered the course, also encouraged the participants to develop a social media policy within their organisation to regulate how staff use social media. He went on to say “I would recommend that groups, in addition to a social media policy, develop a social media strategy so that they are purposeful in their use of social media and use it most effectively to promote their organisation."

Brigid from Abbeyfield remarked,"Very enjoyable and pitched at the right level and length and easy to apply to my organisation and role.”

Resources: A guide to creating a social media staff usage policy and a guide to creating a social media strategy for promoting an organisation are both available for download.
