Support for social innovation

6 Dec 2016 Sandra Bailie    Last updated: 7 Dec 2016

NICVA has been working with Social Innovation NI to deliver 8 workshops throughout Northern Ireland  to introduce people to social innovation and the support that is available through The Social Innovation NI Programme.

At each of the workshops we discussed what social innovation meant to us and how it could help us more effectively meet the needs of the people we are working with. We started with the challenges that people and communities are facing and the importance of empathy with people and understanding of what the real issues are. During the discussions there were lots of examples of innovative projects in communities through organisation's such as Men's Shed's, Vineyard Compassion, Red Cross and  YMCA to name but a few.

More support is now available through the Social Innovation NI programme in the form of a Skills programme delivered by WorkWest and Enterprise North West and Techies in residence delivered by Innovate NI. The deadline for expression of interests is midnight on 11 December 2016. We want to hear about the challenges you are facing and how you think social innovation can help.
