Taking training to a new level
Jim Bailie from East Belfast Community Development Association (EBCDA) tells us about the impact of the TQUK Level 3 Award in Training and Education.
How has your learning from the course impacted your work?
The TQUK course has positively impacted my job with EBCDA. I deliver various training sessions as part of my role as a Health Development Co-ordinator and the course has helped me better prepare and better deliver these sessions. I am already putting the learning into practice and I continue to reflect on the knowledge I gained. I feel the course has sharpened up my presentation skills, improved my approach and has given me extra confidence in delivery.
How has your learning impacted the wider organisation and those you work with?
My learning has had a positive impact and influence on staff members in our wider organisation. When we come together to plan or discuss training sessions I often share my learning from the course with other staff. Another staff member has also completed the TQUK course and I feel this greatly improves our ability to deliver professional training sessions and helps us to give learners the best possible learning content and environment. We always strive to be inclusive in our approach to learners and the course has enabled us to continue to focus on the important aspects of equality and diversity of all learners' needs.
What feedback do you have about your experience on the course?
My experience was very good. Thanks to both Dawn and Roisin for their understanding and support during the course. I certainly feel that it was worthwhile and it has improved my ability to plan and deliver effective training sessions. I would have preferred the course to be in person but that could not be helped under the current circumstances. The padlet and resources were very useful and the course encouraged me to study and learn from various experts in this field. A big thank you to NICVA for the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and skills in education and training.
