A trustees guide to the role of an Independent Examiner
Independent examination is still a relatively new form of external scrutiny for some charities in Northern Ireland. The charity trustees have a responsibility to ensure the examiner has the required skills and experience to carry out an independent examination of their charity. The skills and experience required will depend on the turnover of your charity.
In this short session Tony Clarke, Trustee of the Association of Charity Independent Examiners (ACIE) and a practicing independent examiner will explain what an independent examination is, what to look for in an independent examination and when charities may avail of this option.
Topics covered:
- What is an independent examination
- Can my charity have an independent examination
- What to look for in an independent examiner
- Annual Monitoring requirements with CCNI
