This three hour online session is for those who manage staff, HR managers and board members. It will give an overview of best practice in absence management and practical advice on how to improve.

Do you manage staff in a voluntary or community organisation? Would you like to learn more about best practice approaches to managing employee absence? This session will provide practical guidance on how to manage both short and long term absence and will consider the impact of hybrid working arrangements on this.

  • Absence reporting and monitoring
  • Dealing with problem short term and long term absence
  • Use of GP and Occupational health information
  • Absence dismissals and reasonable adjustments

By the end of the session participants will:

  • Have an overview of best practice absence management
  • Feel confident they are compliant with employment legislation

Facilitator

Alex has been NICVA’s HR Manager for 9 years. During that time, she has been supporting NICVA’s internal people processes as well as providing advice and delivering training to management teams and boards in the VCSE sector on a wide range of HR topics. With previous experience gained in the private and public sectors, Alex provides sessions in an informal style using examples from her own experience as a HR Manager to ensure attendees gain practical knowledge/tools to apply in their own workplaces.
