The Advancement of Religion has become the box to tick if a groups seeks to define itself as a faith charity - but is it the most effective way to define a faith ethos and identity?

Many faith-based charities have ‘the advancement of religion’ as a primary charitable purpose believing that this classification confirms their faith identity. Recent concern around accessing statutory funding has raised a question as to whether this is the most effective means of defining a faith ethos.

This workshop will explore what the ‘advancement of religion’ really means and whether it is an appropriate charitable purpose for all faith organisations.
