IFI TLL First Networking event - REGISTRATIONS CLOSED

This networking event is exclusively for organisations that are part of the International Fund for Ireland (IFI) Transforming Local Leadership (TLL) programme.

This networking event will be held on 6 March from 10.00am-3.30pm in The Garage Theatre, Monaghan.

The main focus in the morning is on Peacebuilding and community relations with speakers, roundtable discussion and Q&A. Then we have the "We Act" team from The Wheel delivering a practical workshop in the afternoon. It should be an interesting and thought-provoking day, a great chance to learn from others funded by IFI and involved in peacebuilding work throughout Northern Ireland and the southern border counties.

Purpose of the event

  • Opportunity to build relationships with all other organisations and individuals on the IFI TLL as well as NICVA and The Wheel
  • Provide opportunity for cross-border and cross-community collaboration
  • Share experiences and learning regarding peacebuilding and good relations
  • Discuss common issues and themes to inform future networking events
  • Gain final agreement on each organisation’s Development Support Pathway
  • Introduce Action learning projects and succession plans

Plan for the day

The event will commence at 10am with refreshments available from 9.45am. The morning starts with an update on the programme so far and overview of plans for the next few months. There will be the chance to network and connect with others through roundtable discussion. We will have keynote speakers on the topics of peacebuilding for the future and new approaches to peacebuilding. Lunch will be provided and after that, there will be a practical training session on Community Sector Communications. We will finish for 3.30pm. A more detailed agenda will be added closer to the event.

Storytelling is vital to the success and sustainability of organisations in the community and voluntary sector. Without public awareness and stakeholder understanding of the work we do and the impact we have, it's almost impossible for organisations to drive support.

This session will look at how to identify, gather and communicate the real human stories that encapsulate the work that we do. We will cover: identifying your audience, choosing which social media platforms to focus on, pitching to local press, how to create photo and video content, and simple, practical ways to streamline your communications through tools like Canva. 

Claire McGowran is the coordinator of the We Act campaign at The Wheel. We Act is all about celebrating charities and communities around Ireland, and putting a face to the brilliant, but often unseen work you do.

Claire has over 15 years' experience in journalism, digital media and campaigning – she has worked on campaigns with UNICEF to end child marriage and with Together for Yes on HomeToVote and now as part of We Act, she tells stories to drive home the value and impact of the voluntary sector in Ireland

Who is it for?

This event is for staff, board members and volunteers from organisations on the IFI Transforming local leadership programme.

We would like at least 3 people from your organisation to attend if possible (each person needs to register separately).

Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
