NICVA is delighted to be offering this online programme for 2022. This course is designed to address and acknowledge a changing third sector environment. It offers some flexibility to participants with resources available to use for study at a time that suits and opportunities to discuss the topics and exchange ideas with their peers in four online live sessions.

"The knowledge, personal abilities and technical skills you need to be an effective manager" Institute of Leadership and Management

Who is it for? New and aspiring team leaders and middle managers looking to advance their knowledge and skills and gain a nationally recognised qualification which reflects their experience and professional development. This course is also a valuable progression for those that have already achieved the Level 3 Award in Leadership & Management.

Entry requirements: There are no formal academic entry requirements. Participants should be, or aspiring to be, in a management/team leader role.

How do you achieve the award? The course consists of two units, with two corresponding assignments to be completed and an 8-10 minute presentation to be delivered and recorded. The approximate expected length of assignments are: Planning and Leading a Complex Team Activity  2000 words;  Managing Risk 1250 words. (This information is provided as an indication of the level of work required for each assignment and should not be regarded as formal word counts.) Support to complete the assignments is provided throughout the course.

Induction: 23 March 2022  10.30am - 11.30 am (Participants will be invoiced after this session has been delivered)

Session One: 6 April 2022 - 'Planning and Leading a Complex Team Activity' (4 credits) 10.30am-12.30pm

Session Two: 27 April 2022 - 'Managing Risk in the Workplace' (3 Credits) 10.30am-12.30pm

Session Three: 11 May 2022 - Assignment Support 10.30am-11.30pm

Session Four:  8 June 2022 - Presentation of Projects 10.30am-12.30pm

The first module covers the planning, development and communication of a workplace project, and the second will detail the skills and techniques used to assess and manage relevant risks.  You will work through a project or activity you are currently planning, delivering or thinking about changing. You will then present your project, and your leadership role within it, to your peers on the final day.

Why should I do it? This qualification suits anyone who manages a project or team, or who might have to plan, communicate and manage the risk of a new project and take on or improve a leadership role within that project.   If you have completed the Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management this qualification will build on those skills and reflect the growing responsibilities of a leadership role.
