ILM level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management

Primary tabs

11 February 2020 - 1:00pm to 18 August 2020 - 11:00am

This Level 5 qualification is designed for project managers, department heads, and other practicing middle managers. Do you want to develop your skills and experience, improve your performance and prepare for senior management responsibilities? Then this programme is for you. It is also a great opportunity to develop relationships with other managers/leaders in the voluntary and community sector, to learn from each other and support one another.

The Diploma starts on 11 February 2020 with an online induction and runs until the 18 August 2020, with completion of assignments by end of  September 2020.

The feedback from this programme has been excellent and it is highly recommended for middle managers in the voluntary and community sector. We have updated and refreshed it to include senior leaders from the sector as guest speakers at most of the sessions. The guest speakers have been a very positive addition to our programme with participants commenting on how it has inspired, challenged and encouraged them to hear from leaders in our sector. We have also added more action learning sets and one to one support. It really is making a difference to how people manage their projects and lead their staff, as well as ultimately helping people do a better job.

Feedback from past participants

In terms of my professional development if was eye-opening to use the analytical tools especially with the survival questionnaire. I realised by capacity to influence people and that I don’t always have to have the right answer. I have become more relaxed in terms of giving people more responsibility and delegating - Grainne McCann, Arts Council

It has helped increase my professionalism within my team and given me the confidence to question and probe as well as give feedback. It has also encouraged me to seek feedback from others I work with. It has challenged me to move forward and take on more responsibility and has helped open up conversations with my manager about career progression - Tori Phillips, Cancer Fund for Children

I benefited from the management theories and feel that I have clearer goals now. It has also helped me with my delegation skills and improved how I coordinate volunteers and facilitators. The impact of the course has been raising my awareness of what I am capable of – learning about my abilities and how to use them. I am more confident and more effective in how I manage - Aiveen Kavanagh, Belfast Unemployed Resource Centre (BURC)
