Leadership for Collaboration: Pathways to Change (East Belfast)

Primary tabs

10 January 2019 - 9:30am to 11 January 2019 - 4:30pm

This two-day course is offered as part of the East Belfast Community Capacity and Leadership Programme. It is run by Interaction Institute for Social Change (IISC). Nowadays, whether or not you are a leader, you are likely to be required to work with others in a more collaborative way. This course will provide you with practical tools and approaches for collaboration within and beyond your community.

The particular challenges facing East Belfast are complex and no single organisation working alone can solve its social and economic problems. Collaboration is no longer optional; it is an imperative. People must find new and creative ways to come together to build relationships, think strategically, and chart a way forward to a better future. The Leadership for Collaboration Workshop will lift up the essential skills you need, from facilitating productive and meaningful conversations to designing a roadmap that will take your collaborative efforts successfully forward to far greater impact. Specific models include:

  • The Big Picture – a meta framework helps leaders answer the key questions which direct all planning efforts: Where are we?, Where to we want to be? How do we get there?
  • Design Pathways to Action -  designing a map of the road ahead to build confidence that the goal is attainable and increase the likelihood of successful implementation.
  • Focus on the margins - conducting a thorough stakeholders analysis and including those voices who are on the margins as an essential requirement in developing plans and actions which will meet the real needs of all those within our communities.
  • Making the case for change – how to make the case for change in order to generate buy-in in your community.
