How important is motivation in the workplace and can managers improve staff motivation? In this session we consider what ‘motivation’ means for individual staff. We discuss how understanding theories and responses to different motivations can support managers and contribute to the development of effective teams.

Content

  • Introducing some of the ideas and theories about motivation
  • Better understanding our own motivation and getting to know what motivates staff
  • Identifying the impact managers can have on the the job satisfaction of their teams members
  • Investigating how organisations can respond to different motivations and engage staff

By the end of the session participants will:

  • Be more familiar with the role of motivation in effective teams 
  • Have new ideas for engaging and developing staff
