Northern Ireland Assembly - Update for Members

Working in partnership with Stratagem NI, NICVA are hosting an update for members on the Northern Ireland Assembly now it is back up and running.

NICVA welcomes the news there has been significant progress and it now looks like we will have a stable, functioning government here in Northern Ireland

Our entire sector is ready, willing and able to get back to work alongside our politicians to deliver the best possible outcomes for communities all across Northern Ireland.

But we know this is just the beginning and it's tough to know how to deal with Stormont with its committees, sub-committees, All Party Groups and more. 

We're working in partnership with Stratagem NI to deliver sessions to give an update on the situation on the hill, and to give some advice on how best to work with the devolved government. 

We'll be hosting one session in person at NICVA on Thursday 15th February and one session online on Tuesday 20th February. 

In this Assembly and Executive overview session we will cover:

  • Role and function of Executive
  • New Ministers – personalities, policies and politics
  • Role and function of Assembly
  • Committees (Focus on Communities committee)
  • How Opposition works
  • The legislative process

There will also be an opportunity for Q&A at the end.
