Open Data Strategy #DataFridays
The Strategy seeks to drive efficiencies in the public sector, to stimulate economic growth through the innovative use of open data and to support the transparency and accountability goals of open government.
At this event, the OpenDataNI team will be gathering the views of NICVA Members and others in the community and voluntary sector to help guide the new Strategy.
A key achievement of the existing Strategy was the development of the OpenDataNI Portal, and together with initiatives such as NICVA's Detail Data partnership project, has seen more widespread understanding and use of open data for public benefit, by the community and voluntary sector and others.
The Strategy for 2015-2018 is coming to an end however, and the current public consultation (closing 31 December 2018) is seeking views and evidence.
"If people put data on the web - government data, scientific data, community data, whatever it is - it will be used by other people to do wonderful things in ways they would never have imagined. The cry of ‘raw data now’ has spread around the world."
Tim Berners-Lee (Creator of the Internet)
