Glengormley School of Traditional Irish Music

Glengormley School of Traditional Irish Music is a voluntary community organisation whose main purpose is the promotion of and the provision of tuition in traditional music. We are mangaged by a management committee of 9 and would have approx 25 other volunteers whom we can draw on. We are based in Edmund Rice Colllege, Hightown Rd. We hold our classes on a thursday night and provide provision of tuition in 11 different instruments. We have approx 200 pupils recieving tuition.

We also provide the oppurtunity to all our pupils to play in a group setting. We are involved in a number of ongoing events in the community. We hold annual weekend music workshops and a week long workshop in Donegal; we hold a Trad Music Summer scheme. We hold formal monthly seisuins and would be involved in numerous other seisuins. We are involved in numerous community events in our local community of Glengormley and North Belfast. We have links with various other community agencies and take part in various music festivals and events.


Glengormley School of Traditional Music based in Edmund Rice College,Hightown Road,celebrating 13 years of provisioning Traditional Music for all. Classes included are:

  • Guitar (Dadgad and Classical)
  • Harp
  • Tin Whistle
