New Horizons Partnership

To advance the education of the public in the North Western Area of Ireland and its environs by the provision of vocational training and supporting and developing clinents in the transition towards employment. To provide programmes of education and vocatiional training designed to assist the beneficaries to attain recognised qualifications likely to lead to employment either in the labour market or in self employment. To develop model methodologies and to conduct research in an effort to promote good practice in the design and delivery of such programmes.

Services

  • Training – to equip clients with work competencies and specific  vocational  and life skills
  • Supported Employment – clients follow a realistic and achievable vocational path through placements with local employers, centred around the client, for the client and by the client
  • Social Enterprises – currently a portfolio of 4 catering social enterprises in Strabane;- The Old Schoolhouse, Allstate canteen, NWRC canteen, Café Horizons and 2 horticultural social enterprises;- Strabane Garden Centre and Ashbrook Garden Centre, all of which provide the vocational opportunities of our clients. These social enterprises are excellent examples of how New Horizons have achieved the equality and inclusion of our service users within the work place and the wider community. Our service users have the opportunity to apply the skills and competencies they have developed on our training programmes in a real work setting and are supported in this practical work environment.
  • Development of Learning Resources – for organizations that provide training and services to individuals with a learning disability. These are a series of learning resources and programmes designed to teach adults with learning disabilities in the areas of work and travel.  Newhop Skills for Workconsists of eight units of general work skills content and four units of vocationally-orientated content. Newhop Skills for Travel is an accredited complete travel training programme for organisations working with people with learning disabilities, who wish to teach their end users safe, independent travel.
