The Leeds Building Society is celebrating their 150th anniversary by inviting charities and community groups to apply for a share of £150,000 of unrestricted funding

The Leeds Building Society is inviting UK-based charities and community groups to apply for an unrestricted grant of up to £30,000. Applications must align with the Society’s aim of supporting vulnerable people to find a place to belong through housing and their community.

Funding decisions will be made by a panel of selected building society colleagues who are passionate about supporting local good causes. The Society’s colleague panel will be making decisions around the funding in June 2025.

To be eligible, applicants must be a non-profit organisation, including but not limited to registered charities, community interest organisations, community benefit societies and community interest companies.

The building society will consider whether applicants are looking at a solution-focused way of addressing social issues, their understanding of their identified beneficiaries and whether they have a measurable way of demonstrating impact.

It will also consider whether applicants have a strong track record of delivering outcomes.

Applicants must have a governing document and organisational bank account and have an annual turnover of £5m or less.

The fund will not support political organisations, organisations based outside of or doing work outside of the UK, or charities that are currently in receipt of a grant from the Leeds Building Society or the Leeds Building Society Foundation.

Applicants must also be able to provide a full year’s audited or independently examined accounts.

Applications must be submitted by 16 May, with funding decisions to be made in June. Payments will be made from September and grantees will be expected to submit a short impact report in September next year.

To apply, interested organisations must email [email protected] to request a copy of the application guidance.
