NICVA Condemns Racist Violence in Belfast and Stands in Solidarity with Ethnic Minority Communities

The Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action (NICVA) strongly condemns the mindless and appalling racist violence that occurred over the weekend.

We stand in unwavering solidarity with all ethnic minority communities, who enrich our city with their unique cultures, talents, and perspectives.

The incidents of violence have shocked and saddened us all. These acts of hatred have no place in our society, and we must come together as a community to support those affected and ensure that Belfast remains a welcoming city for everyone.

Racism and xenophobia are challenges that we must collectively confront and eliminate. NICVA is committed to working alongside our partners in the voluntary and community sector, wider civil society and the NI Executive, to foster an environment of inclusion, understanding, and respect.

Celine McStravick, CEO of NICVA, stated:

"The recent acts of racist violence are not just attacks on individuals; they are attacks on the very fabric of our society. We must stand together to reject hate and embrace the diversity that strengthens our community. NICVA is dedicated to supporting minoritised communities and ensuring their voices are heard and respected."

NICVA calls on all individuals and organisations to unite against racism and discrimination. We urge anyone who witnesses or experiences racial violence to report it to the authorities and seek support. Together, we can build a more inclusive and harmonious Belfast, where everyone feels safe and valued.

Stand with us

We urge all of you to stand with us at Stormont and show your support for the ethnic minority communities who face discrimination and violence. By coming together, we can amplify our message of inclusivity and demonstrate that we stand against racism in all its forms.
