NICVA response on the Future Regulation of Gambling in Northern Ireland

NICVA has submitted its response to the Department for Social Development’s consultation on the ‘Future Regulation of Gambling in Northern Ireland’.  The response provides general comments on the relevant policy areas which affect the sector

There are no proposals to change the rules for small lotteries at exempt entertainments or private lottery schemes but there are proposed changes to societies’ lotteries.

In brief, it is proposed that the maximum limit of £1 per ticket be removed and that the total value of ticket sales should be doubled to £160,000.

Whilst NICVA welcomes some of the proposals it is concerned that the Department has stopped short of bringing the limits on the value of ticket sales into line with those permitted in GB.
