Preparing to Tender - webinar recording and resources
On 3 December Úna McKernan from NICVA delivered a webinar on Preparing to Tender as part of the CFNI Accelerator programme funded by Department for Communities (DfC).
Úna provided information on each of at the following areas in assisting organisations to prepare to tender for opportunities as they arise:
- Identify sources of tenders
- Context & Motivation to tender
- Explain what you need to prepare for tendering
- Explain the language and processes involved
- How tenders are evaluated
- How to cost a tender
- Discuss the considerations in writing the bid
- Presenting your bid
Some dos’
- Only tender for work you can actually do
- Ask the buyer clarification questions through etendersni and check your messages for the responses
- Ensure you understand the requirements / specification and the instructions for submission
- Provide enough detail against each criterion
- Leave enough time for proof-reading
Some don’ts
- Exceed the word count, not even by one word.
- Submit late
- Tell lies
- Use slang words/ acronyms that only you understand
- Give up. Persevere: you cannot win every one!
- Rush. Give yourself plenty of time to complete
- Ignore your competitors
- Make assumptions
