Services

The following services are provided for some of the most disadvantaged and often forgotten in our local communities:

1. Quaker Cottage:  a purpose built cross community family day care centre in west Belfast providing a range of intensive support services for mothers, children and young people at risk or in need referred by health or social care professionals. We work with families who have experienced trauma or who are having difficulties coping with the day-to-day management of their homes.  Mothers who attend have individual needs but typical issues are abuse, alcoholism, anxiety, bereavement, depression, domestic violence and parenting.  In addition to group therapy we provide residential experiences, day trips, lunches, counselling services, crèche and after school activities.
2. The Cottage Teenage Project: a complementary and integral part of the services offered at Quaker Cottage engaging young people in gaining valuable life skills, promoting healthy behaviour and developing a sense of purpose, value and wellbeing.
3. The Monica Barritt Visitors’ Centre:  exists to support the families and friends of people in Maghaberry Prison by providing a range of practical and emotional support services within a safe, friendly and non-judgemental environment.  Services include information, advice, one-to-one support, advocacy, cafe and tea bar, childcare, transport, child centred visits, family activity weeks and family support groups.
4. Quaker Connections: a volunteer programme complementing our work at Maghaberry Prison through providing befriending services for families visiting prison and for prisoners who do not receive family visits.
5. Quaker Care: the charity’s social economy project comprising 2 charity shops in Belfast.
