BBC Children In Need Appeal
BBC Children in Need's vision is that children and young people in the UK have a safe, happy and secure childhood and the chance to reach their potential.
Services
BBC Children in Need gives grants to organisations working with children and young people aged 18 years and under experiencing disadvantage through:
- Illness, distress, abuse or neglect
- Any kind of disability
- Behavioural or psychological difficulties
- Living in poverty or situations of deprivation.
We fund organisations working to combat disadvantage and make a positive difference to children and young people's lives.
Our grants programmes are open to charities and not-for-profit organisations.
Funding Programmes
Small Grants - For grants of up to £10,000 in one year a short application form focuses on the differences made to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people. This is assessed, usually by telephone interview, with a response roughly 9 weeks after application. There are 4 decision points in the year, with applications received by 1st April, June, September and December hearing the outcome in early June, August, November and February.
Main grants (over £10,000 per annum for up to 3 years) have a two stage application process. An initial application eliminates those with low prospects of success at an early stage, with those who are successful invited to make a full application. The focus of our decision making is on the outcomes for children and young people and the potential learning to be secured. There are 3 decision points in the year, with applications received by 15 May, September and January being decided by mid October, February and June respectively.
