Beat Carnival

Beat Carnival

Bringing communities together through carnival arts. Beat Carnival is the Carnival Arts sector lead organisation in Northern Ireland. The Beat Carnival vision is of a vibrant, colourful and welcoming society where diversity and creativity are promoted and celebrated. Beat is a carnival arts training, education and production company and has pioneered carnival arts in Northern Ireland as an effective form of artistic and community engagement. Our arts programme creates an open and safe space for that engagement: for community training, cultural collaboration and civic celebration. Beat creates carnival parades and large-scale performances as celebrations for everyone: and involving lots of people in carnival arts contributes to good relations and community well-being. Beat's activities celebrate diverse cultures and a common humanity and they have as few barriers to participation as possible. We strive to take forward the carnival art form in our Northern Ireland context, creating new ideas and approaches and aiming for excellence in everything we do. Our skills and knowledge, along with the communities that work with us, progressively increases through training and experience. The base resource for this activity is the Beat Carnival Centre in Belfast: with a local, regional, island-wide, and international perspective.
