Belfast Natural History and Philosophical Society

Belfast Natural History and Philosophical Society

Our society was established in 1821 in Belfast to promote the study of natural science, history and philosophy. Our role is primarily educational and cultural. Every year we run a series of lectures and events. We are the owners of the Old Museum Building in College Square North, built in 1832. Another function of our society is to conserve and promote this important grade A listed building for the good of the citizens of Belfast. At present we are undergoing a major programme to restore this building and to give it a new role as an important cultural and heritage and cultural centre in downtown Belfast.
