Cookstown & District Womens Group
Provide a varietry of courses to reflect the range of interests amongst the benficiaries of our area to increase mutual understanding and co-operation across existing divisions with our community to promote the health and wellbeing of children from an early age to raise awareness of 'entitlement of learning' for those with literacy numerical and other learning needs.
Services
We work with the most disadvantaged people in the Cookstown District Council area, an area that ranks high in most categories of disadvantage.
We work with individuals in the following categories:
- Single mothers;
- Offenders;
- Long-term unemployed;
- Individuals with drugs and alcohol issues;
- Individuals with mental health problems;
- Individuals living in isolated rural areas;
- Members of immigrant communities.
We offer second chance learning by providing:
- Basic Skills Maths and English;
- Basic ICT;
- Clait and ECDL;
- Peace and Reconciliation;
- Creative Painting;
- Jewellery making.
We provide crèche facilities to those attending our courses. Counselling and advice and guidance are also provided to participants.
