Cottown LOL 1029
A key element of our vision is youth development. In September 2022, we established a connection with Bangor Junior LOL No. 18 which provides young people aged 7–16 with opportunities to learn about history, culture, respect, and community service in a safe and structured environment. The Junior Lodge meets regularly and takes part in local events, educational trips, and initiatives that promote confidence, teamwork, and leadership. We are proud to be investing in the next generation and believe that their involvement is crucial to the sustainability and relevance of our work.
Cottown LOL 1029 also takes pride in its role in organising and supporting community-based events. We host annual commemorative services, including our Somme Remembrance Service and Boyne Anniversary Gathering, both of which are open to all and designed to foster respectful remembrance. We have recently launched Cottown Connected, a digital literacy and misinformation awareness programme supported by external grant funding. This initiative aims to equip local residents—particularly older adults—with the skills to navigate online information safely and confidently, helping reduce isolation and improve resilience in the digital age.
