Family Mediation NI

Family Mediation NI

FMNI was established in September 2005 as a charity and registered as a Company with the aim to provide an independent and non-judgemental family mediation service to parents/guardians/partners who find themselves thinking about and or actually going through separation, family break-up and/or divorce.

FMNI ultimate aim is to ensure that the needs of the child/young person implicitly and explicitly placed at the centre of the parents and or partners decision making and agreement at the point of the relationship breakdown and that we positively reduce and alleviate the emotional physical and mental impact of this situation on the children, in what can be a traumatic process for all involved.

FMNI is in receipt of funding from the HSCB to provide free mediation to pre-court parents. FMNI provides mediation across NI.

Services

FMNI will utilise a team of independent accredited and experienced family mediators to assist and empower separating or divorcing couples to clarify discuss and negotiate future arrangements for the family.

The service also offers direct child consultation with parental permission to ensure the voice of the child is heard and integrated into the parents decision making. All issues can be successfully negotiated using a facilitative mediation approach, including access/residency,child maintenance, division of assets, access to extended family without the high cost of legal services.

Mediation is a voluntary process and enables parents to reach their own agreements that suits their family best.
