Kilcoo Regeneration Group
Kilcoo Regeneration Group has a range of members from the Kilcoo area of County Down. Kilcoo is a remote rural area nestling in the foothills of the Mournes. It has a diverse population ranging from young families , some of whom have recently settled in the area, to established farmers who have lived their entire lives here to retirees who have chosen to spend their final years in this beautiful location. The diversity is further enhanced by the arrival of many more families who have elected to settle in the new housing developments in the village. Kilcoo Trust Limited aims to address social isolation and common concerns within the community by the promotion of general community projects of a social nature. The projects will be delivered to the whole community regardless of religion, ethnic origin or personal background. People will benefit by having the opportunity to partake in activities, pursue interests and develop skills in the company of their peers.Initially the Trust aims to establish a Men’s Shed, a Craft and Needlework Group, a Gardening Group, and an Historical Society. Other activities will be identified later to maximise the involvement of people in the area. A base is required for these activities hence Kilcoo Trust Limited aims to acquire and maintain a suitable property. Kilcoo Trust Limited will be run by a committee of volunteers who will meet monthly. There will be no payments to any committee member other than reimbursement of necessary expenses, claims for which will be supported by receipts.
