For forty years Ligoniel Improvement Association (LIA) has developed and delivered a range of initiatives aiming to regenerate and revitalise the Ligoniel community. LIA is a charitable, community based, organisation that aims to improve the quality of life in Ligoniel for all residents. Located in the Wolfhill Centre, LIA addresses key issues in the community including health, the environment, training, education, employment, housing, advice on benefits, and transport.
LIA works with community groups and community based organisations across Ligoniel. LIA also works in partnership with community, voluntary and statutory organisations giving Ligoniel a voice and bringing new opportunities to the community.
Services
LIA supports the delivery of a number of activities and programmes in the area including;
Providing the opportunities locally for people to participate in expressive, creative initiatives
Building links, communication and accessibility with ethnic minority residents.
Working with local clubs and clubs from other areas.
Supporting young people and adults to enter into volunteering and gain suitable qualifications.
Training and employment services are addressing the needs of local residents brought into the area
Creating a wildlife haven for water fowl.
Creating suitable/ adequate pathways within the Dam area, identifying areas environmental of importance/conservation
Establishing physical links with other parts of the Belfast Hills, Cavehill etc. Providing opportunities for local residents to celebrate ‘living in Ligoniel’

Monday to Thursday 9am - 5pm
Friday 9am - 2.30pm
