Pure Mental NI

Services

To primary schools we provide free resource ToolKits which, using characters, stories, and parent-teacher-child resources, teach Northern Ireland's youngest pupils the value of healthy inter-personal relationships, they improve their emotional vocabulary, and they make it clear to children that it's good to talk about how you feel and to ask for help if and when it's needed. To request a ToolKit, email: [email protected]

We let pupils take the lead in post-primary schools through our pupil-led Mental Health Committees. These Committees give young people the opportunity to work with staff and their peers to tackle stigma and poor mental health within school through events, fundraisers, sharing information, guest speakers, making resources, and so much more. Pure Mental NI provides these Committees with all the guidance, resources and funding that they'll need to be a success. For more info, please email: [email protected].

The Young People's Well-Being Council is how we give young people a voice when it comes to mental health policy and priorities. This group of 30 diverse young people aged 14-22 from all backgrounds across Northern Ireland meet to discuss the well-being issues which matter most to them, engaging directly with decision makers and informing Pure Mental NI's consultations. Through events, their subgroups, and regular meetings, the Council have made policy suggestions addressed issues which go beyond mental heath such as sexual assault and the future of Northern Ireland. The Council lets young people use their voice on what matters to them. To get involved, email [email protected].

Through our Policy & Research Team we have campaigned for meaningful change across government departments and have built relationships with all political parties, the Department of Education, the Education Committee, the Education Authority, CCEA, and the Department of Health. The Team recently published an evidence based report on the need for Primary School Counselling beyond a pilot programme, and they are currently investigating mental health first aid training within schools. To get in contact, please email [email protected].
