To work for the highest standards in the administration of justice in Northern Ireland. CAJ is a leading human rights NGO based in Northern Ireland. It works mainly in the areas which determine conflict or peace, including combating impunity, working for non-recurrence and the establishment of a rights-based society. Its areas of concern are policing, criminal justice, dealing with the past and equality. CAJ takes no position on the constitutional position of Northern Ireland, is non-party political and takes no State funding.
Services
CAJ offers advice to people and organisations on human rights issues. In certain circumstances it offers legal representation to those whose human rights have been violated by the state. Its main operations are legal analysis, the production of definitive briefings and political lobbying in the cause of implementing the highest human rights standards.
