The FocolareTrust NI

The FocolareTrust NI

The Focolare Movement is an international group inspired by the gospel which promotes dialogue between people of different Christian denominations, faiths and of no faith and organises activities which build communion, further friendship and alleviate suffering locally and in different parts of the worlds. In all its activities the Focolare seeks to further a spirit of fraternity. The Focolare aims to create a new culture, the culture of giving and sharing, as a remedy to the dominant culture of having so that all people can walk together towards the unity of human family. In Belfast a number of adults and youth groups meet regularly to support each other in bringing their initiatives and projects forward.

Services

A few examples of activities follow:

  • Youth groups are led by Focolare members in different parts of Belfast, in Co. Antrim and in Co. Down once a month.
  • Activities involve working on projects, fundraising, providing courses in ecumenism, interfaith and intercultural dialogue and other social related topics.
  • Programmes of meetings for parents and children, with experienced facilitators, to share experiences of parenting and family life are held monthly.
  • We are involved in facilitating dialogue between communities and groups from different backgrounds so that together we can establish relationships of fraternal communion and common witness. Bi-monthly meetings are held in the Focolare house in South Belfast to foster friendships and mutual understanding between leaders and members of communities from different churches.
