The Rural Centre/ Europe Direct NI

The Rural Centre in a Not for Profit organization with Charitable status. It was established in October 1993 as a community resource centre whose aim is to actively promote cross-community, cross-border and transnational co-operation.

Since 1995 The Rural Centre has hosted Europe Direct NI, a European Commission information centre which is part of a network of over 500 offices throughout the 28 member States to enable citizens to obtain information, advice, assistance and answers to questions about the European Union.

Europe Direct NI promotes the benefit of membership of the European Union across all sectors by:

* Assisting with the transfer and adaption of successful project ideas from other regions of Europe
* Arranging study visits to share expertise in best practice across sectors
* Supporting placements within the EU 
* Providing advice on the legal rights EU Citizens
* Guidance on traveling & working in Europe
* Research facilities with access to EU publications and resources 
* Partner searches for EU programmes
* Information on EU Grants, EU Contracts & EU Tenders for business.

Services

Study Visits: The Rural Centre arranges tailor made study visits across all sectors and has over 20 years experience assisting groups, businesses and organisations develop links and partnerships to share expertise and knowledge between EU regions. Visits include agricultural visits to beef and dairy farms in Spain and France, Community support visits to Poland and Hungary, Youth visits to Portugal and London, Women in business visits to Turkey and Cyprus. Cultural Awareness/ Intercultural Competence Training: Understanding different cultural perspectives is the most important step in working successfully across cultures. Intercultural competence is a necessary skill for anyone working with international staff, colleagues or clients to understand how cultures differ in how they work, plan and make decisions.
