Kith and Kin

At NICVA, we love to highlight the amazing work of our members. This month, we’re focusing on Kith & Kin Financial Wellbeing, a Social Enterprise making a big difference by helping people manage their finances better.

Kith & Kin works with organisations and community groups, offering clear financial information and fee-free advice to help individuals take control of their money.

A New Approach to Wellbeing

The idea for Kith & Kin came about when its founders noticed a gap in workplace wellbeing programs. Many organisations focused on mental and physical health, but financial wellbeing - an area that can have a huge impact on both - was being overlooked.

Research shows that financial worries often lead to anxiety, depression, and even physical issues like poor sleep. By addressing these concerns, Kith & Kin helps individuals and their families improve their overall wellbeing.

Right now, Kith & Kin is running Women, Money & Mental Health sessions funded by the Public Health Agency. These sessions are especially relevant as women often face unique financial challenges.

Each session features three expert speakers:

  • A qualified financial advisor to explain financial issues specific to women.
  • A menopause consultant to help women understand and prepare for this major life change.
  • A family solicitor offering advice on divorce, separation, and women’s legal rights.

These sessions aim to empower women, helping them stay in the workplace and manage challenges that can lead to financial and mental strain.

Every Christmas, Kith & Kin supports Women’s Aid NI with a donation, reflecting their commitment to helping women and families in need.

Kith & Kin has been based at NICVA for the past eight years and has benefited greatly from its membership. “Recently, we arranged Governance training for our Directors through NICVA. It was so useful, and I’d recommend it to every Social Enterprise or charity. Many Trustees and Directors are volunteers, and training like this is invaluable to help them understand their roles.”

Kith & Kin Financial Wellbeing is a great example of how Social Enterprises can step in to address real community needs. We’re proud to have them as part of the NICVA member community.
