Belvoir Community Hub, a NICVA member, has launched its new Strategic plan 2024-2027.

With the renewed vision of building a safe, inclusive and thriving community, through our mission to provide a safe and welcoming community facility and access to community services that enhance health and wellbeing, arts and cultures, education and training through community participation.

Belvoir Community Hub continues to provide a collective voice for those in most need within the community and has consistently taken a stand for social change and inclusion through the delivery of projects and services that foster creativity, bridges communities and empowers local capacity.  An example of our work includes:

  • Social support groups for older people, and individuals with long term health and disability issues, including crafting, exercise, reminiscence and social supports.
  • Creative culture or art workshops and events that celebrate intergenerational learning and play, such as a forest school, Family Tree Group, hobbies and life-skill workshops, gardening and history talks and visits.
  • Community based education and lifelong learning, exploring and sharing existing and new skills through collaborative workshops and training.

This community driven project received some initial capacity building support from the Public Health Agency and Forward South Partnership, which enabled the organisation to attract a 3-year funding package from the National Lottery Community Fund in 2022-2024.  This has enabled the organisation to employ project and administrative staff to build good governance processes and support the developing community based or voluntary directors engage, plan and develop a sustainable and working strategy for the organisation moving forward.

While building a safe and inclusive space, Belvoir Community Hub have continued to deliver and navigate through the inherent difficulties that comes with inherent community development.  But, retaining the integrity and vision of a shared, respectful and welcoming space for all, while allowing the exploration of culture, health, arts, attitudes and identity.

Belvoir Community Hub recognise the growing issues and inequalities facing local communities in Northern Ireland.  With parts of the community facing increasing inequalities around health, education and poverty, Belvoir Community Hub recognise their limitations.   Inviting other organisations, funders and communities to partnership with them so that collectively we can make a lasting impact for those most vulnerable within our society.
