Project planning
to£60 members; £85 non membersThis is a practical, interactive, action-learning session designed to introduce the Theory of Change model and help you plan, understand, and communicate the difference your work makes. Using simple Theory of Change tools, participants will take part in hands-on activities based on their own projects, exploring how to move from ideas to clear outcomes and impact. The session focuses on real-life application, supporting participants to build confidence in planning, monitoring progress, and clearly explaining their impact to funders and stakeholders.
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Describe the purpose and key components of a Theory of Change
- Create a simple Theory of Change for their own or a sample project
- Explain how Theory of Change supports monitoring, evaluation, and communicating impact to funders

ILM Level 3 Management of Volunteers
to£450 members; £640 non membersIf you would like to improve how you involve volunteers and want advice on developing a volunteer policy as well as how to support and motivate volunteers, this course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to do that. You will be able to manage your volunteers more effectively. It has been designed specifically for our sector by Volunteer Now and NICVA and provides you with a nationally recognised ILM qualification. All sessions are delivered online via Zoom.
NICVA Engagement Session with the NIO: The Future of Local Growth Fund Investment in NI(2026–2029)
toFREEThe Northern Ireland Office (NIO) is currently undertaking a public consultation on the proposed three-year Investment Plan for the new Local Growth Fund (LGF) in Northern Ireland. This plan sets out priorities for investment for the period 2026 to 2029.
NICVA is inviting voluntary and community sector colleagues to join an online engagement session with the NIO team leading the public consultation.
This session will be an opportunity to learn more about the proposed investment plan and to share views on the key priorities and next steps outlined in the consultation directly with senior NIO representatives.

Whatever level you are at in your organisation this course has been designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to get the best out of people. The benefits of attending this course include understanding how to coach and support others while increasing your competence and confidence as an effective coach or mentor. These skills include the art of deep listening, using powerful questions and examining barriers to coaching and mentoring and how to deal with them.
Preparing to Submit a Tender Response
to£75 members; £110 non membersThis half-day session in NICVA will give you the knowledge and skills you need to prepare for tenders. It will cover managing the process and completing the responses. It will be delivered by Ruth Walker, NICVA associate.
Who is the training for?
Those who are most likely to benefit from this half-day session are those who are/will be managing or will be actively involved in the tendering process in their organisations and want to increase their confidence and knowledge in managing the process and completing responses. It is not for those who are already experienced and confident in this area. Both the project management of the process and drafting responses aspects will be covered in this session.
